Where is it?
Cocooned in the middle of Southern Africa surrounded by Kenya, DRC, Zambia and Mozambique.
Why should I go there:
To get up close and personal with highland Gorillas, Golden Monkeys and Chimpanzees.  Walk in the steps of Dian Fossey and experience the beauty of the Virunga Mountains.
How do I get there:
A five hour flight from South Africa and regional flights from surrounding African countries.
How long should we visit?
A three night trip is ideal to do a gorilla trek but if you really want to experience the country allow at least 7 nights.
Is it safe?
This is a country where political rivalries do flare up from time to time on the border with DRC.  This enchanting country was clouded with the genocide that took place in the mid nineties and the genocide museum is a stark reminder of human brutality.  There is petty crime so you need to be cautious in the markets etc.

What can I see there:
Obviously the highlight of a Rwanda trip is tracking the gorillas. There are also national parks (Nyungwe, Akagera and Lake Kivu).  The genocide museum is very humbling and tastefully remembers the victims.

What is the food like:
There is a mix of European and African cuisine.  One of the leading fruit exporters in the world you are spoilt for choice.
I don’t know where to start.
The gorilla permits are difficult to obtain as they are restricted to a certain number issued per day and once booked have to be paid for immediately.  It is best to book the entire trip with us so we can assure you of being met on arrival and transferred to the towns and places of interest.
Visas:
South Africans do not need visas to enter Rwanda. Foreigners can get visas on arrival for a small fee
Health:
There is malaria of course and yellow fever certificates are required. Bottled water a must!
What language is spoken:
English is almost everywhere but the local language is Kinya Rwanda.
